MELIKA.
I have been doing makeup since 2007. Growing up, I was always fascinated with cosmetics and color, and how a makeup product looked and felt on the skin. This curiosity turned into a passion and lead me to pursue a fullfiling career in the beauty industry. I worked for numerous prestige and accessible beauty brands for over ten years in Australia. Will all the expertise and experience gained over the years, it was time to go freelance.
Bridal work is at the forefront of my business. In 2010, I got asked to do a friend’s wedding makeup. The day was so special and close to my heart that I haven’t stopped doing bridal work ever since.
A smaller segment of my work is dedicated to Runway and editorial work. I absolutely enjoy the creative process in designing a look for a shoot and working with a team of talented professionals.
In 2013, I worked my first runway show backstage at Styleaid in Perth, Western Australia. Since then, I have annually dedicated my time and worked at runway shows for Perth Fashion Festival, Boobalicious, Swim Resort Series, Curtin and ECU fashion runway events.
Makeup is my creative outlet. I enjoy the freedom of expression and the happiness it brings into my life as well as the person on my chair. I can pure-heartedly confess that my job doesn’t feel like work. These days, when I’m not painting faces, I am teaching and educating new artists to become qualified makeup artists in the industry. Sharing what I’ve learned over the past decade with young and emerging artists has been a rewarding experience I’ve endeavoured to enjoy.
